Poems Teen Poetry Summer Camp
A July of Saturdays 2011
Depression
Where is the light?
Where is my light?
Left alone in the dark
With no lamp or flare.
The dark is
eating me alive
Until a warm ray of someone dear
Keeps that shadow away.
Marian Fowler Hornsby
Untitled
Just a beautiful day staring at me
Through my gated doorway.
I can't see the world too well
from in here.
But its safe & private,
lonely and full of electronics.
But I can see the essence
of an exciting day
waiting outside.
Bright, clear & vibrant.
But I can't go out there.
I
don't have the prosperity.
Everything
costs something.
Experiences
are paid for by time,
Time
is extinguished in nonsense.
I've
had a lot of extra time lately,
But
not many experiences.
They
are leashed and tamed,
Named
by society's enemies,
God's
wicked impersonator,
The false
guide.
Telling me what I can
& cannot do.
But he only has power
if I believe in him.
Maybe I'll just take
A nice long walk.

Summer Saturday Afternoon
My body is tired
My mind is not
My body is old
My mind is young
My stomach is plump
My soul is lean
My body is tired
My mind is keen
My life is happy
Your life is sad
My body is tired
My lean is clean
My pen is moving
My back is taut
My body is tired
My mind is not
My body is tired
Thanks a lot
